This website is is a completely hand-coded pet project that I work on pretty much whenever I feel like it, for the simple reason that I thought learning HTML and building a site from scratch would be more fun and challenging than just using something like Wix or Carrd. Thank you for visiting!
I'm a queer neurodivergent artist and invertebrate noticer based in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia, occasionally tabling at local events. I primarily work in ink and Procreate, but I do a lot of experimental stuff. I'm chronically bad at actually uploading my stuff online though - sorry about that!

To-do list
This is a completely hand-coded website, worked on whenever I have the time and feel like it. As such, there are a number of improvements to be made as I build up my coding skills, but here is a list of just a few goals I have for this site.
- Improve overall accessibility
- Add a lightbox for embedded images in the gallery and event pages
- Add more hand-drawn elements
- Add a guestbook
- Mobile-friendly layout
Update Log
04/07/2025:
- - Added an events page to archive events I've tabled at.
- Optimised some coding throughout the entire site. No more hotlinked images or long image URLs!
- Home - Added some art and product photos to the homepage.
- Home - Temporarily removed iNaturalist widget since it was increasing loading time. Hopefully I'll be able to put it back later in a more optimal form. In the meantime, check out my iNaturalist observations here!
- Home - Edited my introduction upon realising I mentioned doing experimental art twice in the same paragraph. Oops!
- Gallery - Updated with newer art.
25/06/2025: Added my own hand-drawn graphics to the site header and homepage! They were a single image for a couple of hours before I split them into the logo text and the artwork. Edited 404 error page to be more in line with the rest of the site.
29/04/2025: Changed site name from ginkgoidea to ginkgobug.
19/03/2025: Changed font in iNaturalist widget to mono fonts.
18/03/2025: Came back to this site after a long hiatus and made a number of adjustments. Removed the about page and merged it with the index page (for now) since they both had basically the same information. Edited the self-introduction on the index page to sound less stuffy. Shrunk the boxes and adjusted the borders. Finally figured out how to make the gallery images display smaller.
01/11/2023: Added an iNaturalist widget that shows 5 recent observations that I've uploaded to iNaturalist.
10/10/2023: Added boxes and updated the summary text on the home page.
22/08/2023: Created a gallery page and added some of my artwork (sorry about the huge image sizes!). Centre-aligned all text on the site. Removed the social media links on the home page since they're now linked in my about page. Added another button to the footer.
20/08/2023: Created an about page and updated the summary text on the home page.
19/08/2023: Added some placeholder links at the top of the page, and attempted to create a footer for the decorative buttons.
13/07/2023: First created a Neocities account and began creating my website based on a HTML draft I'd made some time earlier.
